Hyundai Creta Facelift Coming Next Year
The India-bound 2018 Hyundai Creta facelift is likely to come with the same engine lineup – 1.6-litre Dual VTVT petrol, 1.4-litre CRDi diesel and 1.6-litre U2 CRDi VGT diesel.
Hyundai, the South Korean automaker has recently introduced a slightly revised Creta SUV in the Indian market. Instead of major changes, the company opted for variant rejig and feature upgrades for the SUV. Interestingly, Hyundai is also working on a facelift version of the SUV. The new Hyundai Creta 2018 facelift will be launched in the Indian market in the second half of 2018, soon after its grand debut at the biennial event. This compact SUV is a crucial product for the company and it accounts for a huge chunk of Hyundai’s monthly sales. In a bid to keep the demand intact amid intense competition, the Korean giant plans on bestowing intermittent updates on the SUV.
The facelift version, set for launch by mid-2018 will act as a buffer until the new generation model is rolled-out in 2021. The next-model could also introduce mild hybrid technology in its vehicles; however with the recent withdrawal of the subsidy to mild hybrids under the FAME scheme. There is yet no clarity if Hyundai will use this technology for its volume products. As a reminder, Hyundai has already launched the updated Creta at the 2016 Sao Paulo Motor Show. The same changes are expected to be offered on the upcoming India-spec model as well. It features subtle styling updates, visible largely on the front profile. The side profile will remain unchanged, except for the few tweaks in the form of new alloy wheels. Minor changes were seen on the rear end with a new tail-lamp and bumper.
The Brazilian-spec model also gets subtle changes to the cabin. Feature list include new climate control system with new colour backlight and Apple CarPlay & Android Auto for the infotainment system. It is expected that India-spec model could inherit either some of all of the changes from the former. Under the hood, the facelifted Creta is expected to feature the existing engine range. The company might add mild-hybrid technology to further improve its efficiency
